I have a broken wisdom tooth ...
Sent to Dental Experts February 21 07:19 PM

I have a broken wisdom tooth (1/4th of it is missing). All my wisdom teeth erupted fairly normal (not impacted)and they were never extracted. I am 53 years old. I do smoke and take herbals like Ginseng and St John''s Wort. I know those herbals will reduce my clotting. Should both the upper and lower wisdom teeth be removed at the same time or is there an alternative? Should I have all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time?

hi,

I would advice you to contact your surgeon and discuss with him if it is better to remove all your wisdoms together or if you could remove them at intervals.

You can also discuss with your surgeon whether he would require certain blood reports which would determine the clotting and bleeding time, since you are taking some herbal medicine that can delay clotting.

If your surgeon feels that it is not safe to perform all the extractions at a single appointment, then you can get them removed at scheduled intervals. However, the anaesthetic agent and the medications will have to be repeated for every extraction.

Hope this helps...
