I've had braces for about two years and a half and the orthodontics said they would be off by one year and a half. Now they have told me that I need to use rubber bands for my overbite and my jaw hurts. When I eat, my jaw locks itself sometimes, do I really need the rubber bands? My teeth are perfectly straight and I have been using on and off the rubber bands for about 6 months. What do you suggest?

Not wearing the rubber bands to ease the pain.

I should still wear my rubber bands even if it bothers me, right? Well, I have to wear two on each side, and at night, it hurts even more, should I just wear one on each side?

Well, a couple of weeks. I see my orthodontist every month and I have an appt. tomorrow. Yes I have discussed about it with my orthodontist, but I just wanted to make sure if the pain was ok. Thank you very much!
